Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie

This is the lead single off of the re-release of Oral Fixation Vol.2. The original is a remake of a track Wyclef Jean did for the Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights soundtrack. Wyclef is also featured on this version too.

In its original version, it's a reggaeton/hip hop track. It's a lot of fun and it works. The slightly more urban remix by Wyclef Jean, with some additional lyrics is quite great too. The new beat is great too.

On the dance tip, there is one mix by Maurice Joshua, but the word on the street is that Shakira apparently did not like the mix so it will not be released.

However, the mix can be heard on Maurice's MySpace.

The mix is quite nice. Very late night/summer house-ish. It's a shame this one won't see any release. But it is definitely worth mentioning.

The original version of "Hips Don't Lie" can be purchased only on the re-release of the album or on iTunes. You have to buy the whole album for now to get the song as it is a special bonus. If you have purchased Oral Fixtation Vol.2 on CDalready, there is a procedure for downloading the song for free from Shakira's website. But you must have the CD in order to do it.

Luz Divina - The Other Side

The wait is finally over! Luz Divina's debut album The Other Side was just released this past Tuesday.

It features several previous singles as well as some new material. CD1 features the "pop/original versions." CD2 is a bonus disc with some excellent remixes.

This one is a joy to listen to from start to finish.

Depeche Mode - Suffer Well

Just as the other singles off of Playing The Angel got some slamming dance mixes for the clubs, "Suffer Well" is no different.

Jimi La Lumia - Dancefloor

Back in the late 70's he was part of the anti-disco movement, but now he has come back to clubland with some hot dance tracks.

"The Anthem (I Need To Take Drugs)" on Strong Island Records was a minor underground hit. While the B-side, "For DJs Only" did the same.

Now he's on Liquid Music and has some hot songs. Check out "Dancefloor". It's awesome!

Jason Walker - Reaching (Arenna Mix)

Jason Walker has been putting out some fabulous music ever since he came onto the scene a short time back.

Aside from the excellent mixes of this song by Junior Vasquez and Matt Piso, there's the new mix by Arenna.

Here is a short sample of the Arenna Mix. This mix has not received an official release yet, but it definitely should.

Blondie vs. The Doors - Rapture Riders

This is a mashup of two classic songs: Blondie's "Rapture" and "Riders Of The Storm" by The Doors.

Mashup artist Mark Vidler created this mashup. This mashup had been available for free download on his website for some time now. But this mashup has just been cleared for a release on Blondie' recent greatest hits collection which came out in early March.

The CD promo contains just the Single Edit and Full Version of the mashup, and as a bonus, the Special Disco Version of "Rapture" is included too.

One of the import editions of the CD single includes those three mixes plus a 7" version of "Rapture".

Peter Rauhofer - I Love New York

This is the first in a new series of mixed CDs by DJ/remixer/producer Peter Rauhofer. The idea is similar to his previous Live @ Roxy series which ended after four outings.

This 2 disc mix captures the essence of one of Rauhofer's live mixes at one of his many residencies. Of course, Rauhofer is best experienced during a live set at a club with a pumping sound system, but this set does a good job of bringing that club feeling.

The songs are a mixture of some past, present and future hits. Some highlights include the new Hector Fonseca mixes of "I Look Good" by Club 69 featuring Kim Cooper and Offer Nissim featuring Maya's "First Time." These mixes are a nice change from some of the other mixes that have been played lately. Full version of those mixes can be purchased on the Star 69 website at a price of $1.99 each in perfect, pristine quality. The three Rauhofer Reconstruction mixes that are featured on CD 2 are all worth seeking out seperately. the 2 Raum Wohnung and Cevin Fisher tracks were just released a short time back. The last track "Believe In Me" is actually Rauhofer's remix of the Duran Duran track from last year which has still remained commercially unavailable.

Let's Get Twisted vol. 1

This is a special collection that marks the 10 year anniversary of Twisted America records. Since 1996, they have brought us such artists as Peter Rauhofer aka Club 69/Size Queen, Celeda, Funky Green Dogs (Ralph Falcon & Oscar Gaeten aka Murk), and Suzanne Palmer.

To mark their anniversary, this 2 disc set features 15 full, unmixed tracks as well as three bonus acapellas. These CDs are filled to capacity with some of Twisted's most famous and popular out-of-print tracks.

This is slated to be the first of several more releases in this series.
